Heart Attack Days – Rhett Miller
Before we return to mining great older songs, let’s spend the balance of January looking back at more great stuff from 2022. One track, up to three times a week. Don’t forget to join in on the conversation, too. And you can always keep up via the Playlist Repair main and Playlist Repair ambient playlists on Spotify.
‘Let's spend the night together/Let's spend the night and never/Spend the night together again’
A song that’s danced in my head since being released by former Old 97’s alt-country rocker Rhett Miller last fall. I’ve never spent much time with this Texan – Fact: His paternal grandfather owned an NFL team (Dallas Texans) that went bankrupt in 1952 after one season – but his new single is not the stuff of a 1-11 team. He’s got a fun thing going with his Hudson Valley, New York neighbour Sam Cohen, a multi-instrumentalist who had worked on an earlier album with him, as well as with the likes of Sharon Van Etten (Cohen co-wrote the 2019 single the Comeback Kid with her), Norah Jones, and Danger Mouse.
