‘Must be a devil between us/or whores in my head/whores at the door/whore in my bed’
I am gobsmacked, again, during what might be listening number 983 of this track from the iconic Doolittle album. On an LP chock full of lust, bedlam and even a little pop, this is the song that hits hardest. It’s start-to-finish special, from Frank Black’s Jaggeresque vocals, to the haunting Kim Deal chant of “chained, chained”, to lyrics that could have been written by the Prince of Darkness himself, Nick Cave.
You introduced me to the Pixies back when this album was new. Thank you.
This is a great idea starting off even greater with Pixies as Entry No. 1
